Carmelo was a carpenter and worked at Delco for about 30 years. He was a parishioner at St. Joseph’s since 1973. Carmelo went to church every Sunday, Holy days and holidays. He went every week until it got too hard for him to go. Even when he stopped going to church, he continued to receive Holy communion.
Chuck graduated from Aquinas Institute in 1955 and received his Master’s Degree in Education from Brockport in 1961. He had a prestigious career in education with the Fairport School District for 30 years. Chuck was an active parishioner of St. Joe’s for 53 years. He loved participating in his Bible studies and Christ Life. Chuck was a minister of Communion at Grand Vie and a friend to many in the parish community.
Family was the most important thing to George. He was an engineer at Kodak for many years. George was a parishioner at St. Joseph’s since 1974. He was involved in Coffee Hours, and small group bible study groups. He attended church every Sunday.
Rosemarie worked as a German translator for Siemens in the Empire State Building and at Kodak. She became a stay-home mom after she had her children. Rosemarie was a parishioner at St. Joseph’s for 43 years, since 1978. She was involved in bible study groups, children’s liturgy, adoration, prayer groups, and festival of praise. She attended healing masses and took part in Christ Life program. She was a devout Catholic that attended mass every Sunday and on holy days, went to confession frequently, said the rosary daily, watched daily mass on TV, went on pilgrimages to Fatima, Lourdes & Betania, and attended right to life marches. She was also involved with the Sisters of Mercy.
Anita was a very active parishioner at St. Joseph’s. She was the coordinator for Martha Ministry, and she cooked for the priests at the rectory. Anita was a volunteer and an on-call nurse at Shepherd Home for many years. She was a faithful mass attendee, for both daily and weekend liturgy. Family was number one for her and she and her grandchildren had many traditions that they enjoyed together. Her grandkids called her ‘Sito.’ Anita was very generous with her time, helping others and making people smile.
Liborio worked at Gleason Works for approximately 25 years. He was a loving, hard-working husband and father. He was a parishioner since 1969, and participated with the St. Joseph’s Table. Liborio was very much a family man.
Ralph attended West High School, the University of Rochester, and Albany Law School. He served in the U.S. Army at Fort Benjamin Harrison in Indianapolis, Indiana. Ralph started his law practice in Rochester NY in 1972, where he continued to practice law his entire life. He worked in child protection.
Returning from the U.S. Army with an honorable discharge, Al was employed with Cayuga County for 32 years as an Auto TechnicianAl’s love for classic cars was only second to his love for his family who meant the world to him. Al was known for always working hard, as well as his kindness and compassion for others, and would help anyone who asked. He never turned anyone away. Al was a parishioner of St. Joseph’s for 17 years.
Mary Ann was always helping people. She was always positive. She worked many years with her best friend Jan at Jan’s Woodcroft and worked in the office at St. Joseph Rectory. She loved working the primaries every year. She was a girl scout leader and was one of the volunteers for the Thanksgiving Appeal every year at St. Joseph’s.
Mike owned and operated MJ Pipe and Supply. He was a graduate and longtime supporter of Bishop Kearney High School where he was a member of their Board of Directors and ran the Sports Booster Club. Mike was a board member for Christopher's Challenge and WASDA. He believed in giving back to his community and was generous with his time, talent and treasure. Mike was a parishioner of St. Joseph’s since 1980.
Dr. Eric Joseph Steltenpohl was a beloved dentist for 30 years in Barrington, Illinois. After retirement (and moving to Webster) he enjoyed being a grandparent and he cherished the time he spent with his wife, and the trips they took visiting his daughters.
Mary Elaine was a parishioner at St. Joseph’s for more than 20 years. She had a very strong faith. Mary Elaine became the first woman supervisor in Kodak’s Equipment Service Division while working in New York City. She was also involved with the Rochester Guild for Special Children, taught in the Catholic elementary schools, was active in the Rochester Garden Club and was a volunteer at Genesee Hospital.
Bill served in the Army for 18 months in the Panama Canal Zone. He worked for nearly 30 years at the Rochester Times Union, one of Gannett’s flagship newspapers. He was part of a Times Union Pulitzer-Prize winning team. Family was always the center of his and his wife’s lives. A superb pianist, he co-founded the Beale Street Bandwagon, a Rochester Dixieland band. A devout Catholic, he rarely missed daily Mass when able to drive.
Beatrice was a parishioner for over 40 years. She attended weekly mass until she became to ill. She had an extremely close-knit family. Her family was the center of her life. Bea was an administrative assistant for many years retiring from Xerox in 1992.
Tom worked for General Dynamics and also served four years in the US Naval Reserve. He went on to work at Highland and Strong Memorial Hospitals, and the private jet company, Page Avjet and to lead a career in real estate sales. Tom had a special place in his heart for the Adirondack mountains where he built a cottage near Old Forge, NY with the help of many friends and family. He served as President and was a 40 year member of the Penfield, NY Rotary club.
Mickie became a parishioner at St. Joseph’s in 1981. She was a strong and compassionate woman devoted to her family, faith, and friends. She spent many years in her career as a hospital and Pediatric nurse and a lifetime unselfishly nurturing her family.
Arlene graduated from University of Rochester School of Nursing (’44) and trained Nursing Attendants during World War II. She volunteered at the Baptist Home, St. Mary’s Hospital Auxiliary. Arlene was a member of St. Joseph’s for 30 years.
Walter was a quiet and serious person. He had worked at Xerox as a manager/customer service. Prior to that he was in the U.S. Navy. Walter was a kind and generous person. He would purchase groceries and other items and supply Sr. Julia at the St. Regis Food Cupboard and Matthew’s Closet. He did this very quietly and privately for many years.
Bob was a co-owner and operator of Tarrant Contractors and later founded Robert F. Smith Enterprises. Bob had an active history of community involvement and volunteerism: Finger Lakes Health System Agency, Harambee, Penfield Rotary, and St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. He was a parishioner of St. Joseph’s for 42 years. He actively participated in Rotary service projects and fundraisers including the LPGA Golf Tournaments sponsored for many years by Monroe County Rotary Clubs as well as traveling to Sudan for the Water for Sudan Project. He was an active member in the Penfield Rotary Theater.
