At age 16, Elvera left the family farm to find work in Rochester in order to help her family. She worked at the lunch counter at Neisner’s, and at age 18 she was hired by Bausch and Lomb to make Ray Ban’s for the war effort. She and her husband became parishioners at St. Joseph’s in 1981. Ann was very devoted to St. Anne. She attended mass regularly and when she lived at Fairport Baptist Home she watched mass on TV and participated in religious activities and programs there.
