What is Stephen Ministry?
Stephen Ministry is a one on one, man to man, woman to woman, spiritual and educational ministry through which members of St. Joseph's, who are trained and commissioned, will listen and pray with you when you are facing difficulties.
Having ministered to over 200 men and women, our parish Stephen Ministers follow in the footsteps of St. Stephen, the first deacon of the early church commissioned by the disciples to care for the needs of the growing Christian community.

- A Christian lay minister who has received months of training in how to be with another and truly listen, providing distinctively Christian care.
- A lay minister who continues to receive support twice a month through Continuing Education and Peer Supervision.
- A person who is committed to confidentiality. Those receiving care can be sure that their identity and what goes on in the caring relationship will remain confidential.
